Specialized Interviews

Behavioral: Presents you with a situation to react to. (“Tell me about a time when”….or “Describe how…”)

Case and Technical: Presents interviewee with a problem, or case, to solve. Your answer is not as important as your analysis. It is commonly used by consulting firms.

Presentation: Assigns you to present a topic or pitch an idea.

Preparation is Key

Research: Who are you meeting with? Make sure you are familiar with the organization that is interviewing you. Check out the company website and LinkedIn.

Be Ready to Ask Questions: This shows engagement and demonstrates interest. Examples: Could you tell me about the work environment? What is the most important skill to help a person succeed in this position?

Refine Your Story: Remember that you are making a first impression. Make sure your appearance reflects that!

Polish Your Documents: Is your resume error free? Is your Thank You note ready to go? Does your cover letter add value to your application versus simply repeating information from your resume?

Virtual Interview: this will often be your first impression. Practice and check your surroundings for any distracting elements. A blank background is preferable.
