As you prepare to enter the University this fall, you may find yourself wondering how you will grow and change in the coming years and where your U.Va. experience will take you after college.  Fear not–UCS has resources to help you every step of the way. We realize that during your first year here, you will be adjusting to a brand new environment as well as the freedom and responsibility that come along with it.  Take the initiative to utilize a few of the resources that will help you along your career path, starting with  these suggestions:

• Seek diversity in your courses to further identify your interests and skills.
• Get involved! Explore student organizations that intrigue you and relate to your potential career interests.
• Make an appointment with a UCS career counselor to talk about how to link your major with your career interests.
• Create a MyUCS account to gain access to exclusive resources and subscriptions.
• Check out events on the UCS web calendar.  You can even sign up for a Career Exploration Workshop or plan to attend a panel or employer visit.
• Consider taking a career assessment like Myers-Briggs or the Strong Interest Inventory.
• Bring your family to the UCS Family Weekend Open House.
• Explore our interactive Career Development Wheel.
• Review the “Choosing and Using Your Major” video.
