OGI: Inclement Weather Policy for Employers

Inclement weather warnings the days before your interview (either in your location or ours)

Please call our office at (434) 924-8900 to make arrangements to either change your interview dates or to coordinate telephone interviews. The recruiter is responsible for informing students of the changes. We suggest holding telephone interviews in one of two ways:

Option A

The recruiter will arrange to call students at their homes on the scheduled interview day and time from his/her location. UCS will not be in the loop.

Option B

Students will travel to the UCS interview site and speak to the employer from our suites via telephone. UCS will help coordinate this:

  • Because the suites cannot accept outside telephone calls, we have purchased telephone cards for telephone interviews.
  • Immediately before the first interview, a member of the Employer Services Team will call your office using the telephone card then the first interview will begin.
  • We approximate a five-minute break between interviews, but we will continue to keep the telephone connected. If you would like to disconnect during the lunch-break, we will arrange for that during our set-up call in the morning.

Inclement weather on the day of the interview

Please call our office as soon as possible to inform us about your intention to interview on that day. Students are able to get to our location in most circumstances. Therefore, the decision to interview is the recruiter’s. We expect students to be here, and we publicize to them that if the University is closed, which rarely occurs, they are expected to be here for interviews unless informed otherwise.

  • If you decide to hold the interviews and are going to be late, please call our office at (434) 924-8900 and please call your first interview appointment to inform about the lateness and to make alternate arrangements.
  • If you decide to cancel the interviews but would like to hold telephone interviews instead, please call the office at (434) 924-8900 and choose the method above, A or B, that best works for you.
