When you are developing or strengthening your presence on U.Va. Grounds, targeting the right students for your search is a vital step. We have compiled a list of resources for you in order to reach the students you want to reach. We are happy to help you design a recruitment plan that targets students who may have the knowledge, skills, and abilities you seek. Please visit the sites below, and feel free to contact us if and when you choose to work through any of these groups directly.
Contracted Independent Organizations (CIOs)
CIOs are membership-based, student-governed groups. They are created by students and span diverse categories—anything from club softball teams to fraternities and sororities to cultural interest groups. Currently, there are 560 groups in the U.Va. CIO database. The McIntire School of Commerce and the School for Engineering and Applied Science also have student organizations that may be of interest. Browse the CIO database.
Accessing Other Student Groups
Go to www.virginia.edu/uvastudents/. Under the heading “Organizations and Councils”, you will find a listing of permanent organizations are governed by students. These organizations exist to advocate for the interests of the student populations they represent. This is where you will find class and school council groups.
Sponsor Programs/Advertise with UCS
Reach students who utilize UCS services by partnering with our office to sponsor career fairs or by advertising in UCS publications. You can learn more and find forms online.
Student Newspaper
The Cavalier Daily is U.Va.’s student-run newspaper, and the University’s only daily newspaper. The Cav Daily has a print circulation of 10,000 and is distributed all across Grounds. Organizations advertise events and recruitment schedules through this publication. Find the Cavalier Daily on the Web.
