Health Professions Advising: Timeline
Choosing Schools
- Curriculum
- Physician Assistant programs differ in the amount of clinical experience they except before matriculation. Make sure you are aware of those expectations and that you have met their criteria. Also, consider how easy it would be to continue your education beyond the traditional program if you are considering additional schooling for a specialization.
- Location
- Would you like to be close to your family or far away from your family? What type of environment (urban or rural) do you find the least stressful? Would you rather do clinical work with patients in an urban or rural community?
- Your Competitiveness
- The most important task in selecting a school is determining which programs might be a good fit for you. Look at the average GPA's and GRE scores of applicants to programs you are interested in.
The recommended number of schools to apply to is 5-7
