Arts & Sciences

Because U.Va. Arts & Sciences students embrace a breadth of interests and knowledge, they find it critical to focus time and effort on exploring and clarifying career goals. Then students are able to make full utilization of the top employers in finance, government, media, and science that seek College students because their studies in history, foreign cultures, art, and philosophy not only broaden knowledge, but help to make sense of our own world. Savvy employers recognize that decisions are based on interconnected ideas and creative answers require recognizing the connections across ideas, nations, centuries, and disciplines. Figures at University Career Services bear this out as organizations seeking interns and hires routinely request resumes from all CLAS majors.
- Ladd Flock, Director - Arts & Sciences Career Services

Walk-ins, counseling appointments, and workshops are available through UCS to help all CLAS majors develop a solid career search strategy. To be proactive in planning for your future, it is best to use the UCS calendar to plan your career activities each semester.

Sound familiar?

Graduates from '05 and '06 shared their first destinations with Arts & Sciences Career Services. Their diverse choices of full-time jobs, graduate school programs, volunteer pursuits, and travel experiences demonstrate the myriad opportunities a liberal arts education affords.

You have access to this information through the First Destinations report (pdf). Use it to help you identify the professional paths your life may take.

When you have identified where YOU will be after graduation, tell us about it and help future classes of U.Va. grads know who precedes them. Send information on where you are going, what you will be doing, and who you will be doing it for to whatsnext@virginia.edu.
