Walk-ins & Appointments

University Career Services offers both counseling appointments and walk-in hours to all students at U.Va. (except those in the Darden, Law and Medical schools, which have their own student and career services).

Unless otherwise indicated, all counseling is at UCS in Bryant Hall at Scott Stadium.

General Walk-in Hours (for resumes and cover letters only)

Monday through Friday, 1:00 pm–3:00pm

Need assistance with fine-tuning your resume or cover letter? This is the purpose of UCS walk-in hours! Students are seen on a first come; first serve basis for up to 15-minutes per walkin session.

Walk-ins are held throughout the entire year, even when classes are not in session. Always refer to 434-924-8900 or the UCS website to confirm walk-in times when classes are not in session.

Appointments

Monday through Friday, 8:00 am–5:00pm

Do you know most people spend more time researching their vacation destination than planning their career? Career planning should be intentional, and if done thoughtfully it takes time.

Call ahead to schedule an appointment with a career counselor to discuss any of the following topics: choosing a major, gaining a realistic understanding of the relationship of major to career, exploring career options, drafting a first resume or cover letter, gaining experience through internships, considering applying to graduate or professional school, or job searching. Each appointment may last up to 45 minutes and may be one of several visits to help you create a customized approach to reaching your academic and career goals given your interests, skills, values, concerns and hopes.Offered throughout the year, Monday through Friday. Architecture, Commerce, and Engineering Career Services also provide counseling services to students. Additionally, the Graduate School of A&S has distinct career services for UVa graduate students, and the School of Nursing has additional services and resources through the faculty advisors, dean's office, and a seminar.
