Career Peer Educators (CPEs)

Amanda O'Malley

Amanda O'Malley

[return to CPE index]

Name: Amanda O'Malley
School:
Major: Political Science- Foreign Affairs
Graduation Year: 2012
Career aspirations at age 7: Lawyer
Career aspirations now: Lawyer, not much has changed
Favorite UCS program/resource: The personality tests, such as the Myers Briggs, are phenomenal.
Most meaningful/career-defining moment: This past summer I was a Resident Assistant with the Junior Statesmen Summer School at Georgetown University. It is a summer program in which highly motivated high school students take summer classes in U.S. Government, Foreign Policy, or Constitutional Law. They also participate in Congressional Workshops in which they debated issues that are currently being addressed in Congress, and heard from Government officials such as the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Admiral Michael Mullen; Senator of Illinois, Roland Burris; Senator of Arizona, John McCain; and many more influential government officials. This experience was life changing. As an RA I was able to help and encourage 20 girls to follow their passions and pursue their dreams.
