Most meaningful/career-defining moment: I am still unsure what I want to do, but my current job is helping me explore some possibilities. I work as a Student Administrative Assistant at Newcomb. What I like most is being sort of in the background, helping things run smoothly. I mostly help out my supervisor with answering phone calls and office administration tasks. Sometimes I use the database to book events that students submit online. I think my job is a great start for connecting with people in different departments, such as the Event Planning Office and Business Services.

How Can Career Peer Educators Help You?

CPEs know how exciting UCS resources really are!

Meet with one of us on a walk-in basis for an overview of UCS’s most referenced online resources, affectionately called the Fab Five (pdf).

  1. CAVLink
  2. Career Search
  3. MyUCS (Vault and Going Global)
  4. Optimal Resume
  5. UCAN/Hoosonline (alumni database)

We also present workshops to student groups on Writing Resumes, Choosing Your Major and Making the Most of Job Fairs; simply complete a Program Request Form to get the process rolling.

Read a former CPE's journal detailing her experience securing an externship using UCS resources!
